Project Overview
Redhill Services installed a solar PV and battery storage system for a Norwich roofing company that was moving to new premises in Berghapton. The business wanted to generate sustainable energy to support their service yard, storage building and office block, while also providing backup power during grid outages.
The project combined a 10.5kWp solar array across two roofs with a Fox ESS EVO all-in-one inverter and battery system, providing 10kWh of storage.
Challenges
- Designing a solar installation across two separate roof areas.
- Storing solar energy to support the business’s electricity needs throughout the day.
- Providing backup power during power cuts.
- Making stored energy available to the office, which had a separate electricity supply from the storage building housing the solar system.
Our Solution
- Solar PV Across Two Roofs: We installed a 10.5kWp solar array across the metal roofs, using the available space to generate electricity on site.
- Integrated Battery Storage: We fitted a Fox ESS EVO all-in-one inverter and battery system with 10kWh of storage, allowing solar energy to be saved for later use.
- Backup Power Provision: We used the inverter’s emergency power output alongside a manual changeover switch, enabling a switch from the normal supply to battery power during an outage.
- Office Backup Connection: To accommodate the office’s separate supply, we provided a temporary backup cable connection that allows stored energy to supply the office during a power cut.
Outcome
The business now has on-site solar generation and battery storage to support their daily operations and reduce reliance on grid electricity.
The backup arrangements also provide a way to maintain power during outages, including supplying the separately connected office from stored battery energy. Together, these measures give the company greater control over its electricity use and improved resilience at their new premises.
