The Sync Energy Wall Charger 2 Socketed range covers three closely related 7.4kW single-phase smart EV chargers: EVWC2S7G-02, EVWC2S7GG-02 and EVWC2S7GGR-02. All three are Mode 3 chargers with a Type 2 auto-locking socket, built-in smart charging functions, load management support and a compact wall-mounted design suited to home use and selected light commercial settings.

If you are combining these models into one enquiry-led product, the key differences are straightforward. The EVWC2S7G-02 is the standard Wi-Fi and Ethernet model. The EVWC2S7GG-02 adds 4G connectivity. The EVWC2S7GGR-02 adds both 4G and RFID access control, making it the best fit where user authorisation is needed.

The charger delivers up to 7.4kW on a single-phase supply at 32A, with configurable charging current from 6A to 32A. That allows the charger to be matched more easily to site conditions, installer settings and load management requirements. Electrical input is 220-240V AC at 50-60Hz.

Each socketed model is supplied with a CT clamp and load-management kit to support dynamic load balancing. This allows the charger to monitor the property supply and adjust charging output to help avoid overloading the installation. The same CT clamp arrangement also supports Auto Solar Charge, allowing the charger to make use of surplus solar generation where available.

Smart Features and Connectivity

The full socketed range is built around smart charging control. Standard models include 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and RJ45 Ethernet. The EVWC2S7GG-02 and EVWC2S7GGR-02 also include 4G connectivity, which is useful where broadband or stable Wi-Fi is not available near the charger location.

The charger supports OCPP 1.6J, over-the-air firmware updates and Bluetooth 4.2 for setup and commissioning. It is app-enabled, giving access to scheduling, charger control and smart charging functions. The 4G models include a three-year data package, after which service can be topped up.

The EVWC2S7GGR-02 also adds RFID access control, which makes it the better option where charging needs to be limited to approved users.

Build Quality and Installation

The charger uses a UV-stabilised polycarbonate housing and is rated IP55 and IK10, making it suitable for indoor or outdoor installation. It is designed to be wall mounted using a four-point fixing arrangement, with fixing centres of 110mm horizontally and 145mm vertically. Overall dimensions are 305mm high, 201mm wide and 115mm deep.

The standard finish is a black body with anthracite grey trim, and optional coloured trims are available separately. There is also provision for cable wrap storage when a separate charging lead is not in use.
